Brandon Scott Coleman is a guitarist, composer, arranger, and producer based in Northern Kentucky. He performs and records with Ben Sollee, Barnweaver, and Spherical Agenda, and leads his own trio and quartet. He writes arrangements and orchestrations, and produces, mixes, and masters records for other artists.
Brandon Scott Coleman is a guitarist, composer, arranger, and producer based in Northern Kentucky, from eastern Kentucky originally. He performs and records with Emmy Award-winning cellist Ben Sollee, the Cincinnati alt-Americana band Barnweaver, and the jazz-fusion group Spherical Agenda, and leads his own trio and quartet with bassist Matt Wiles and drummer Jeff Mellott.
His orchestral and new-music work includes John Adams' El Niño under the composer's baton at the Cincinnati May Festival, the world premiere of William Menefield's Fierce at Cincinnati Opera, and Summermusik's 2026 Zappa program with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. His orchestral arrangements have been performed by the Louisville Orchestra.
He is featured across the discography of producer Jason Grimes' Doctor Bionic. He produces, mixes, and masters records for other artists, and teaches at Northern Kentucky University.
Brandon Scott Coleman is a guitarist, composer, arranger, and producer based in Northern Kentucky. Raised in eastern Kentucky, his playing runs from folk and roots music to hypercomplex notated music, and the span itself is the point.

He plays guitar in the Cincinnati alt-Americana band Barnweaver, whose self-titled debut was mixed by Grammy-nominated engineer Duane Lundy and covered by Louisville Public Media. He co-leads the jazz-fusion group Spherical Agenda, and leads his own trio and quartet with bassist Matt Wiles and drummer Jeff Mellott: a decade-long partnership documented across Decisions, Infinite Loop, Aquatic, The Watchmaker, Phobos, and the live record THE WATCHERS. Textura wrote that he "plays with a fluidity and intelligence that suggests a long and satisfying career lies ahead."
His orchestral and new-music credits include John Adams' El Niño conducted by the composer at the Cincinnati May Festival in May 2022, the world premiere of William Menefield's Fierce at Cincinnati Opera in July 2022, and Summermusik's 2026 program of Zappa's Revised Music for Guitar and Low-Budget Orchestra and G-Spot Tornado with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra; he has also performed Juan Trigos' opera Ella-Miau. He appears on the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra's JOY! (Live from Music Hall), and has performed and recorded with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, concert:nova, and the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra.
He is featured across the discography of Doctor Bionic, the instrumental hip-hop project of Cincinnati producer Jason Grimes, on Chiefdom and Colemine Records. His session guitar has appeared on television and film soundtracks including DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and on programming from ABC to Netflix.
He has played Smalls, The Kennedy Center, the Blue Wisp Jazz Club, Bop Stop, 55 Bar, Club Bonafide, and Cliff Bell's, and appeared at the Loja Jazz Festival in Ecuador, the CBGB Festival in New York, and the Columbus Jazz & Rib Fest. He has given masterclasses in Honduras, Ecuador, and across the United States.
He produces, mixes, and masters records for other artists, and teaches at Northern Kentucky University.

The first time I heard Brandon Coleman was on a performance in Cleveland, Ohio. Brandon was an instant stand out to me because of the amazing amount of knowledge that was contained in his approach. Brandon found ways to integrate Indian, Blues, Brazilian, Afro Caribbean and of course the Jazz masters into a natural, authentic and musical approach to his playing. I have since made him a member of one of my performing ensembles and Brandon never disappoints, he plays from the heart and can really tell a story when he solos.
Coleman certainly distinguishes himself as a player and composer of considerable ability.
Brandon is a deeply imaginative musician and brilliant creative collaborator. Anyone would be lucky to have him on their creative team. Whether he's performing, arranging, or composing, he always shows up with uplifting energy and beautiful music.

I've had the privilege of working with Brandon as a bandmate and collaborator in many different musical contexts. He has also engineered and produced one of my albums. Along with being an incredible musician, he's one of the most knowledgeable guys I know with all things having to do with technology. On top of all of that, he's just an all around genuine dude and will do anything to help you out, especially if it means serving the music and trying to create the best art possible.

From composing and playing to mixing and mastering, he does it all and in a great spirit of collaboration. He's mastered 12 CDs and 17 LPs of a benefit project for me, and he did a beautiful job.
I’ve worked with Brandon across a few different parts of the recording process, and he really covers the full spectrum—mixing, mastering, composition, and everything in between. He’s got a great ear for dialing in a mix and bringing a track across the finish line, but he’s also quick to troubleshoot gear or fix whatever’s getting in the way. On top of that, he’s just a fun person to have in the room—funny, fast on his feet, and genuinely dedicated to getting things right and making the music better.
I had the pleasure of working with Brandon to create string arrangements for my first album. Not to be confused with Brandon Coleman the Los Angeles keyboardist (Kamasi Washington, Brainfeeder), or Brandon Coleman of The Red Clay Strays. All three of us are working musicians who happen to share a name.
